Aftercare

Most likely you have been sent home with a second skin bandage, I personally use Recovery Derm Shield Bandage.

  • Keep this bandage on for 3-4 daysIf you experience redness around the edge of the bandage, it is more than likely that you are experiencing an allergic reaction; PLEASE REMOVE AND WASH IMMEDIATELY IF THIS IS THE CASE.

  • If the bandage comes off sooner than expected, its no worries you can do one of two things; You will have to baby your tattoo and start your cleaning routine immediately, or if absolutely needed you can schedule a time with me to re-bandage your tattoo.

  • Your bandage will begin to fill with body fluid such as; blood, ink, and plasma. This will create a bubble commonly coined as an β€œink sack.”

    • DO NOT POP THE BUBBLE, the liquid will reabsorb in your skin so it is important to try and leave on the bandage.

    • The bandages residue can easily be washed off with the NON-SCENTED soap, or olive oil.

  • For your tattoo cleaning routine make sure to wash your tattoo 3 times a day once the bandage comes off.

    • My top recommendation is a NON-SCENTED body wash, and NON-SCENTED lotion.

      • Start by using the NON-SCENTED soap, then around the 3-4 day mark your tattoo will begin to be dry, itchy, flakey, and may even scab over. This is when I would recommend putting on the NON-SCENTED lotion.

    • My second recommendation is applying Bacitracin, A&D Ointment, or a Tattoo balm 3 times a day. Some tattoo balm brands I highly recommend is; Hustle Butter, Bee Butter, or Mad Rabbit Tattoo Balm.

      • PLEASE NOTE THAT A LITTLE OINTMENT GOES A LONG WAY

      • DO NOT USE VASALINE WHATSOEVER

  • General rules to avoid infection/fading

    • Absolutely NO SWIMMING, OR BATHS during the healing process (3-4 weeks)

    • Avoid sleeping on, and apply direct of prolonged pressure to your tattoo during the healing process.

    • Avoid direct sunlight during the healing process (3-4 weeks) after this I recommend regularly using sunscreen to protect from fading.

    • Wear LOOSE-FITTED clothing during the healing process (tight clothes can adhere to the tattoo and rip the scab off)

    • Avoid pet dander, and DO NOT let your pets lick, or scratch the tattoo

It is important to follow these procedure so that your artwork heals the best that it can, and so that you can avoid infection.
